Chapter 2: Hong KOOONG!

Heeej!
Vill forst och framst tacka er som kom till flygplattsen for mig!
I'm in hong kong now and i am in LOVE with this place already.
The flight was good, i had to wait in zurich for 4 hours which i spent walking around checking the place out and i also watched Doomsday on my laptop.
The flight from Zurich to Hong kong was a long one. . . luckily i got the emergency exit seat, so there was plenty room for my legs!
I didn't sleep very well at all however, and was pretty tired.
It was funny, the girl sitting to my right, turned out to be a model who had actually been in singapore the same time as me, neither of us recognized eachother though.
We walked around the hong kong airport together and got ahold of our luggage pretty quickly.
When we exited and entered the entrance area of the airport i finally got to lay eyes on Claire again. I felt so anxious and even nervous, it felt unreal.
After a while we took farewell of the other model from the flight and called the apartment people. . . . the english dialect they have here is hilarious, i couldn't help but laugh a bit while speaking to them over the phone haha
We were told to take the express train to hong kong central and take a cab from there, which we did.
At the moment we are staying temporarily at an apartment for two days because our apartment has a malfunctioning airconditioner.
Anyways, we got on the express train and at hong kong central we grabbed a cab to winglock street. . . .. . and wow. . . the cab driver was a complete asshole. Ruined my first impression of hong kong people, i haven't decided yet whether they are generally good people or if they are all assholes, they don't speak english however, which makes simple tasks pretty difficult hehe
After the cabride with the asshole, Claire and i arrived at 63 winglock street. . . which confused us because it was a bakery. . . and a pub right next to it. . .
I gave "Mar" a call and within short he arrived. Poor guy looked like he had run here, sweating and breathing deeply the little man pleasantly greated us.
Claire had to run to her agency and grab a job voucher for a shoot she has today, so i followed Mar up a hallway between the pub and bakery.
We passed a gate with a code lock, and after two fleats of stairs we arrived at the apartment we are to stay in.
When we walked into the apartment a pleasant surprise met my eyes, it's not nearly as tiny as i expected it to be, and it's really really nice actually. A big bed, a big red sofa, a tiny little TV and a wonderful airconditioner haha (It's hot here, but not nearly as humid as singapore . .. i think i can survive this one) the bathroom on the other hand. . . There aren't really any doors to it, and it's inside the one room we stay in (I'll take some pictures later) it's only shielded from curious eyes by a white plastic drapery. . . . You can imagine how i felt when i had to go number 2 on the toilet with claire sitting outside. . . hahaha
I paid Mar the money and he left, funny little man. . . .
I spent a short period of time pulling some stuff out of my bag, thereafter i headed downstairs and bought a telephone card in order to call claire, when i got back to the apartment she was already sitting outside. . . .
We spent a few minutes inside and then headed out again to go pick her luggage up at her current apartment.
She helped me buy a so called "Octopus Card" which is a card you use for the subway here in hong kong. . . the subway is called the MTR btw, almost like singapore where you call it MRT. . ..
The MTR was crowded as hell, but we live at the end station so we are almost always assured a seat on the subway mwaha
after 2 stops we got off and headed toward her apartment. It was amazing, people everywhere, giant buildings touching the sky, so much life and energy, lights flashing everywhere, the night sky shone pink from the reflection of the busy city. I was in love.
Claire's apartment however, (She told me it was bad) was truly a shoebox. . . . the two of us could barely be in the room at the same time, so i jumped on the bed and let her pack her stuff.
The land lady came in and started speaking chinese with me, after i explained to her that i don't speak chinese. . . . .. . . .. she continued to babble on to me in chinese. . . anyway we finally paid her Claire's final rent, and left.
We grabbed another cab to get home because it would be too much of a hastle to take the MTR with her luggage, which happens to be heavier than my already overweight bags hehe
The cabdriver didn't speak english and was completly incromprehensible, somehow we managed to get close enough to our street for me to see a sign pointing to winglock street, so he dropped us off and we walked the rest of the way. He was kind though, and apologized when he had to drop us off hehe
Claire and I spent about an hour in the room getting ready (I took a well needed shower, was sweating like mad)
At around 9pm we took the MTR to some random station, i don't remember which.
We got out, and after some time of searching we walked out of exit D1. I don't even know how many exits there were. . . . Hong kong is more complicated than sweden or singapore hehe
After walking up a long street (Both of us were out of breathe and sweating when we reached the top) we walked to "Dragon I"
This is a club i have heard a lot about while i was in singapore.
We walked up a short staircase, and i was amazed. . . A giant bird caged in the entrance and the entire place was very moodily lit. It was dark and gloomy, very very nice place, not like the places in singapore, this was like a restaurant, very nice.
Claire's friends had reserved a table for us, we signed in but were told to wait for her friends outside.
So we grabbed a seat next to the giant birdcage and got served 2 glasses of white wine, Free of charge ofcourse. . .
While waiting there model after model came, greeting claire and then heading in to Dragon I's center.
After a short while, Ingrid, a brazilian model i'd seen from singapore and her friends arrived, these were the people we were waiting for.
Inside of Dragon I's center was amazing, red lanterns hanging from the cieling.
We sat down at a round black table. We were five people, Me, Claire and 3 other girls. Eventually 2 guys arrived as well nice guys from Claire's agency. . . . brazillian ofcourse. Everyone at our table was from Claire's agency actually. . .
I was still trying to grasp the fact that i was in hong kong. . . . it still didn't feel real.
Now, listen to this. . .
We ordered food, and they served us with numerous plates of chicken, sushi, noodles, fried rice, garlic broccoli, sweet n sour pork etc. . . . i was so hungry but i lost my apetite and just sat there staring at the food .. . . i was so amazed. . . . all this. . . free! And they kept the wine comming as well.
After the dinner, they picked everything off and shortly afterward placed 10 glasss on the table, accompanied by a bottle of smirnoff, a bottle of white wine, a bottle of red wine and a bucket of beer. . . . .we didn't even have to ask for it. . . .
Fear not though, Claire had a casting early in the morning so we headed home shortly after the meal.
This morning i awoke, Claire was already dressed and after saying farewell she headed out to work. . . . Me? I'm still in bed. . . i woke up at 9am though. . . too excited to sleep, i want to go out into hong kong. . . and i'm really really hungry haha
Everything is well with me as you can see, just a bit tired. . . . maybe i'll go back to sleep. . .

Lotsa Love!

/Alex

Hi Alex,
Reading your first blog made me sentimental, reminding me of Hongkong I visited on business trips, as turists together with Eve-Marie, reminding of your blogs from Singapore, both blogs written in same style. Without seeing your signature I can see sender from the both is one and same man, Alex.

I liked Hongkong as British crown colony. I wonder how much or little changed since sovereignty was returned to communist China.

Very very interesting to read how two young foreigners in Hongkong trying hard to explore luck.

Keep writing. I am waiting.

Ogenkide, Claire-san ni yoroshiku.

Hi Alex,

Good to hear that you got to Hong Kong allright. And it was wonderful to see you even if the time you spent in Stockholm when too quiquely.

Glad to be able to read your blog again but why such small letters. Remember that most of your readers are kind of old folks with poor eye sight.

Enjoy Hong Kong and lots of luck with everything. And say hallo to Claire from me.

Lots of love,
Lena
